WORKSHOP INFORMATION
Painting Fabulous Textured Abstracts
(or why the hardware store is your best friend)

Location - Gallery 2611, 2611 Broadway, Redwood City

Date and schedule - Saturday-Sunday, May 16-17, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, with an hour for lunch.

Supplies

Supplies are available from art stores (Michael's, Aaron Brothers, University Art, Accent Arts) and hardware stores.

• Soft, not tube, acrylic: Get stand-up tubes or pots of paint. My basic palette is Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red Medium, Cadmium Yellow, Ultramarine Blue, Cerulean Blue or Phthalo Blue, Titanium White, Black. Bring other colors you like, such as greens, oranges, purples, golds, and silvers.
• Canvases: Two canvases of about 16x20" or 20x24". I prefer gallery wrapped canvases but canvas boards are also fine. Bring extras if you want to stretch.
• Liquid gesso: Bring the pourable kind in a bottle, such as Liquitex Acrylic Gesso.
• Brushes: 1/2" and a 1" flat or round, 3/4" soft watercolor brush, and disposable 2" and 3" brushes from the hardware store.
• Rags: Cut up an old T-shirt into pieces about the size of your hand. NO towel rags.
• Table-top easel: Available from art stores. Needs to hold the canvases you buy.
• Palette knives: 3" long blades, metal or plastic.
• Paper towel: VIVA are recommended.
• Spritzer: Get an industrial strength one from the hardware store.
• Mixing trays: A few old microwave food trays or disposable plastic picnic plates.
• Bucket: One gallon water bucket to throw brushes in.
• Apron: Optional if you wear old clothes.
• Nitrile gloves: (Optional.) I'll supply latex gloves.
